About Afrika Tikkun

AfrikaTikkun was founded in 1994, and at that time it was known as the Ma Afrika Tikkun, by the late Chief Rabbi Cyril Harris and Dr. Bertie Lubner. The organisation, in the beginning it focused on assisting communities that were affected by fire, disease, and hunger, while at the same time also offering adult literacy and skills training. It is rooted in the values of Tzedakah (compassion) and ubuntu (humanity); Afrika Tikkun has now evolved into a youth development organisation.

The organisation shifted to its current Cradle-to-Career development model in 2005 under the leadership of Marc Lubner, and it was renamed to Afrika Tikkun in 2011. Today, this organisation is one of South Africa’s leading NGO’s that is focused on empowering young individuals and creating meaningful employment pathways.
